Today marks Runnymede College's Founders' Day. Eagle-eyed readers may have noticed a slight change from previous years' announcements, with the possessive apostrophe moving after the letter “s” in Founders! From this year we are formally celebrating both Arthur and Julia Powell - our Headmaster Frank Powell's parents, who established the school 54 years ago.
Pupils across the school have engaged in activities related to the day. History students have learnt about Magna Carta, the document enshrining liberty which inspired the school's name, and the English department has been exploring acrostic poems and working on their punctuation skills in honour of our two Founders.
The always enjoyable Founders' Debate will take place after half-term, to inaugurate the new Julia Powell Sports Hall & Auditorium.
