The Annual Junior School Prize Giving for Years 3 to 6 took place on Friday 18th June. The celebratory event took place in the newly constructed Julia Powell Sports Hall and Auditorium, where Years 3 to 6 could come together safely.
Due to social distancing rules, there were two ceremonies: one for Years 5 and 6 and another for Years 3 and 4, with both ceremonies being live-streamed for parents and the rest of the children in their classrooms.
Ms Barr spoke of the challenges which have arisen throughout the year, and her pride in the way the Runnymede community has pulled together to continue to provide a wonderful education for all. We celebrated not just the individual successes of the children, but also the collective success of the Junior School.
She praised the human capacity to adapt and move forward as we look to the future. In particular, wishing the Year 6 children all the best for their transition to the Senior School. Once again, the particular contribution of the Year 6 House Captains was recognised. Prizes for Excellence were presented by Mr and Mrs Powell, and prizes for outstanding Runnymede Values presented by teachers.
We were also lucky enough to listen to two live piano performances by two of our talented pupils before and after the ceremony, as well as a video recording from our Junior String Camerata.
All the children were presented with a colourful Runnymede pin to wear on their blazers and a certificate showing they had successfully completed the Year 2020-2021.
