SIMS Coordinator

Runnymede College is a private non-denominational British school in Madrid offering a British education to boys and girls of all nationalities from the age of three to eighteen. The education offered follows the British National Curriculum.

Founded as a private school in September 1967, the primary school was inaugurated in 1987, and since 1990, the whole School has been situated in La Moraleja, a residential estate 13 km to the north of Madrid.

We are an excellent and well established school based in Madrid looking to recruit a SIMS specialist required for coordination, maintenance, and training of SIS.

Successful applicants should:

  • be a native level english speaker
  • be an expert in SIMS and have previous experience implementing SIMS
  • provide in-house training for staff and create training materials
  • offer technical support to staff on a daily basis
  • proven ability to plan and carry out project work
  • excellent time management, planning and organisational skills
  • excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • experience of using a variety of IT packages

Other preferable but not essential criteria:

  • knowledge of Spanish

Admissions Secretary & PA to Headmaster

The school is looking to recruit an Admissions Secretary & PA to the Headmaster.

We would like the candidate to start immediately in order to learn the ropes before the current post holder goes on maternity leave after Christmas. This is a maternity cover post with the possibility of a permanent contract working within the school office for the right candidate.

The successful applicant will:

  • be a native level English speaker, bilingual or with a high level of Spanish
  • be well presented with an excellent telephone manner and social, inter personal skills
  • have previous experience of working in a school environment is preferable but not essential
  • have previous work experience as a Receptionist/ Secretary

Systems Administrator and IT Coordinator

We are an excellent and well established school based in Madrid looking to recruit a Systems Administrator and IT Coordinator.

The successful applicant will have:

  • be a native level english speaker
  • have experience with web development: HTML, CSS, JS
  • have experience with database admin using MySQL and FileMaker
  • have knowledge of DTP
  • be familiar with MDM and IT security
  • be familiar with common software packages: OpenOffice, Photoshop, InDesign
  • experience with network management and optimisation
  • have knowledge of SIMS
  • provide in-house training for staff
  • offer technical support to staff and students on a daily basis

Other preferable but not essential criteria:

  • a degree in Computer Science or Information Technology (we welcome applications from recent graduates)
  • previous experience working in a school environment
  • intermediate Spanish

Head of Department - A Level Economics teacher

Runnymede College is a private non-denominational British school in Madrid offering a British education to boys and girls of all nationalities from the age of three to eighteen. The education offered follows the British National Curriculum.

Founded as a private school in September 1967, the primary school was inaugurated in 1987, and since 1990, the whole School has been situated in La Moraleja, a residential estate 13 km to the north of Madrid.

Academic levels are high at Runnymede College. This year 60% of our students achieved A-A* at A Level which meant four of our pupils gained places at Oxford. Another four students have chosen to study at Imperial College London, and another three are going to study at Edinburgh. 81% of our Y13s are now at UK universities. The remaining students have been accepten into top universities in the USA, Spain and Italy.

There are close to 200 pupils in the VI Form and Economics is a popular subject as many choose to read Philosophy, Politics and Economics (PPE) at university.

The school is looking to recruit an A Level Economics teacher as Head of Department to join their Senior School team for January 2020.

The successful applicant will have:

  • a good honours degree from a British University
  • a PGCE or other qualified teacher status for secondary teaching
  • recent experience as an A Level Economics teacher in a school in the UK
  • the ability to modify learning strategies to target the needs of individual students
  • high expectations of pupils’ effort and behaviour, and facilitate this with proven classroom management skills
  • be a native English speaker
  • possess valid references, and have an up to date CRB/DBS check
  • have a good working knowledge of ICT systems and the application of ICT in the classroom
  • previous experience working with SIMS

Other preferable but not essential criteria:

  • Previous experience of an international school
  • Previous experience in Middle Management

General terms and conditions of employment

  • Contracts
    All employees of the school - unless they are doing a maternity cover - are on permanent contracts (Contrato de Duración Indefinida).
  • Social Security
    The School pays Social Security contributions for all its employees; this entitles employees to full free medical cover, contribution to state pension and unemployment benefit.
  • Salaries
    Staff at Runnymede College are paid very competitive salaries by local standards. All new members of staff receive a € 1,000 settling-in allowance for those moving from outside Spain.
  • Holidays
    Summer: July and August. Christmas: just over two weeks. Easter: two weeks. Half terms: one week in the first term (end of October / beginning of November) and one week in February. There is no half term in the third term due to the large number of public holidays. Teachers are not expected to work in summer schools.
  • Accommodation
    Although the School does not provide accommodation and does not contribute to defraying the cost of accommodation, new members of staff are helped to find a suitable home by the School.
