French Teacher from January 2019

The School is looking to recruit a French Teacher to join their Senior School team for January 2019.

We are seeking to appoint an outstanding, enthusiastic and inspirational French teacher with a proven track- record of excellence to join our very successful department. This post could suit a fully qualified native level speaker of French with the relevant qualification, experience and approach.

The successful applicant will have:

  • a good honours degree
  • be fully qualified (PGCE) to teach French at secondary level.
  • have recent experience in teaching up to Key Stage 4 and beyond (we prepare the Cambridge IGCSE and the AQA A Level)
  • have a working command of English
  • Have the ability to work as part of team. The candidate will be joining a supportive department.

Other preferable but not essential criteria:
  • Previous experience of an international school

Geography teacher (Maternity cover from January 2019)

The school is looking for an enthusiastic Geography teacher for a maternity cover from January 2019 to teach Key Stages 3, 4 and 5 in a thriving and successful department who:

  • has excellent subject knowledge and can teach all year groups
  • must be able to teach Key Stage 3, IGCSE, AS and A2 Geography classes
  • delivers engaging and well-planned lessons
  • is willing to help develop departmental resources
  • has strong IT skills and can confidently use GIS in lessons
  • is keen to be involved in field work
  • has excellent classroom management

The successful applicant will have:

  • a good honours degree from a British University
  • a PGCE or equivalent
  • recent experience as a teacher in a school in the UK
  • previous experience of an international school (desirable)
  • must be a fluent English speaker - no knowledge of Spanish is required
  • possess valid references, DBS check

Receptionist-Front Desk School Secretary

The School is looking to recruit a Receptionist-Front Desk Secretary for the office to start immediately.

The successful applicant will:

  • be a native English speaker, bilingual or with a high level of Spanish
  • be well presented with an excellent telephone manner and social, inter personal skills
  • have previous experience of working in a school environment is preferable but not essential
  • have previous work experience as a Receptionist/ Secretary
  • be a team player, organised, punctual, polite, show initiative and be able to work individually without supervision
  • have knowledge & use of common software

General terms and conditions of employment

  • Contracts
    All employees of the school - unless they are doing a maternity cover - are on permanent contracts (Contrato de Duración Indefinida).
  • Social Security
    The School pays Social Security contributions for all its employees; this entitles employees to full free medical cover, contribution to state pension and unemployment benefit.
  • Salaries
    Staff at Runnymede College are paid very competitive salaries by local standards. All new members of staff receive a € 1,000 settling-in allowance for those moving from outside Spain.
  • Holidays
    Summer: July and August. Christmas: just over two weeks. Easter: two weeks. Half terms: one week in the first term (end of October / beginning of November) and one week in February. There is no half term in the third term due to the large number of public holidays. Teachers are not expected to work in summer schools.
  • Accommodation
    Although the School does not provide accommodation and does not contribute to defraying the cost of accommodation, new members of staff are helped to find a suitable home by the School.
